Proving yet again that gaming was a far more serious affair in Japan, Densha De Go! EX, a train conductor simulator arcade conversion, hit Japanese Saturns in late 1998.

Playable with an optional “train” controller, you learn how to operate passenger trains along real Japanese rail lines. The game will rate you on how smooth you operate your engine — for example, your acceleration, your adherence to train schedules, and how closely your stops align with train station platforms.

Crazy, but it is hard to underscore the game’s appeal — the PlayStation version sold more than 1 million copies, and the series’ latest entry is from 2020. Wow.

Wow! I never heard about this Japanese exclusive game before! Thanks for sharing with us your excellent review and insight as always Peter!! 😎
