Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner #BestOfSaturn

Demons lurk all over Japan, and Shin Megami Tensei’s Devil Summoners exist to combat them! Play as a student who gets caught up in a titanic struggle between evil supernatural forces and those who would protect the world of the living.

A late 1995 release, this Atlus role-playing game sees you work through dungeons and overworld maps, visiting various locales, encountering enemies to battle, and generally fighting to free your city from demons. Most areas are presented in 3D first person perspective — a first for this series.

The hook is the story, and the ability to talk and negotiate with demons to persuade them to join your party. Language barrier? Of course! But your Japanese lessons are coming along, are they not?

A Saturn fan since the beginning, Peter plays Saturn almost exclusively. For Peter, Saturn represents a moment in time where 2D games were at their best, 3D was just rising, and fascinating gaming 'firsts' were commonplace.  There are very few Saturn games that Peter cannot find some enjoyment in!
