[UNRELEASED] Last Dynasty Dumped – NO APRIL FOOLS!

I don’t think anyone woke up this morning expecting any REAL news, however, that’s just what we got with the PUBLIC RELEASE of THE LAST DYNASTY, an all but complete but never released SEGA Saturn game!

The dump appears to have gone live two days ago, March 30, 2021, over on HIDDEN PALACE, released by “olsaturndev”. This is a game that many folks have known about for some time and have long awaited its public release.

Developed by Coktel Vision and published by Sierra On-Line, it seems this PC port was basically finished and ready to go (minus a few bug fixes here and there), but was pulled at the last minute due to… reasons… (most likely Saturn’s poor market performance and an insufficient projected return on investment…)

The Prototype CD-R Discs

While the prototype CD-Rs were auctioned off a few years ago, Saturn Guru has been in possession of the official pre-production silvers for several years, and while proof footage of those silvers running on a stock Saturn was provided back in 2018, the game itself has been withheld from the public until now…

UPDATE: Saturn Guru has released his own copy of the game today, April 1, 2021.

2018 Demo Video – Saturn Guru

DESCRIPTION:
The Last Dynasty is a hybrid game that casts the player in the role of the space pilot Mel Raauq. The pilot receives the mission of a lifetime: he has to to locate and eventually destroy Lord Iron, whose minions are out in space in at attempt to subdue other inhabitants of the galaxy. The gameplay is divided into two phases: space combat simulator in the vein of Wing Commander, and first-person puzzle-solving adventure. The player can pilot many types of spacecraft, such as fighters and cargo vessels, and engage enemy ships in battle using four main weapon types: lasers, remote-controlled missiles, rockets, and aft mines. During the adventure phase, the player explores the environment in a Myst-style fashion, collecting items and solving puzzles. Full-motion video sequences are used to advance the plot. -MobyGames
