Liquid Kids saw arcade release in 1990 and an exclusive home port on the PC Engine in 1992… until Ving ported the title to the Saturn in 1997! Japan-only, this Taito platformer features a platypus-looking hippo named Hipopo searching for his missing girlfriend. The gimmick here is Hipopo can throw water bombs which immobilize enemies that he can then shove against walls to vanquish. Freezing multiple enemies can lead to chains for bonus points, etc. An oldie but goodie.
A Saturn fan since the beginning, Peter plays Saturn almost exclusively. For Peter, Saturn represents a moment in time where 2D games were at their best, 3D was just rising, and fascinating gaming ‘firsts’ were commonplace. There are very few Saturn games that Peter cannot find some enjoyment in!
