Soul Hackers 2 Launches Today

Soul Hackers 2 launched on modern platforms today, the first direct sequel to Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers 25 years after its first release on the Sega Saturn.

The sequel retains the original’s dungeon crawler aspects while simplifying mechanics to make it one of developer Atlus’ most approachable games for players who are new to the overarching Shin Megami Tensei series to which Soul Hackers belongs.

Check out the launch trailer below:

Soul Hackers 2 is available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series and PC. It’s the first Shin Megami Tensei game in years to release on the Xbox family of systems.

It seems to be reviewing better on console than PC, as the PlayStation and Xbox versions have Metacritic aggregate scores between 75 and 77 while the PC version is a less impressive 69.

As Shiro reported at the time, Soul Hackers 2 was announced six months ago.

The original Soul Hackers hit the Saturn on Nov. 13, 1997, with a PS1 port coming in April 1999, both exclusive to Japan. An enhanced, localized Nintendo 3DS port launched in the West in 2013.
