Although only released in Japan, an English language option exists in this SNK port. Making use of the 1MB Cartridge, this is the 2nd of three KoF games on Saturn. The 2D visuals are as resplendent as ever, and the game introduces several new mechanics to the KoF formula, such as variable jumping and an evasive roll move for dodging attacks. The game was well received but did catch criticism for not being balanced overly well.
A Saturn fan since the beginning, Peter plays Saturn almost exclusively. For Peter, Saturn represents a moment in time where 2D games were at their best, 3D was just rising, and fascinating gaming ‘firsts’ were commonplace. There are very few Saturn games that Peter cannot find some enjoyment in!
