Steamgear Mash is an early Saturn title that really made a case that the latest games don’t have to be fully 3D to be fun. You take command of Mash and work through several large, multi-leveled isometric worlds in a platforming run-and-gun. The story is of the cheesy, save-the-princess variety. Controls take a bit to get used to, but the game’s charm helps win gamers over. Oh, and there are a few isometric shmup levels, too! A fun, Japan-only romp.
