Johnny Bazookatone #BestOfSaturn

Early 1996 saw Johnny Bazookatone land on the Saturn. A tough little 2D platformer with some run-and-gun elements, it sports pre-rendered visuals that scream “made in the 1990s.”

Johnny’s out to rescue Anita, his favorite guitar, collecting golden musical notes and shooting them out of his bazooka as he goes. The five worlds visually remind of Donkey Kong Country, while Johnny’s moves and animations harken to Earthworm Jim… though the game never achieves the classic status as the other titles.

Interesting music throughout. Good for platforming fans.

A Saturn fan since the beginning, Peter plays Saturn almost exclusively. For Peter, Saturn represents a moment in time where 2D games were at their best, 3D was just rising, and fascinating gaming 'firsts' were commonplace.  There are very few Saturn games that Peter cannot find some enjoyment in!
