Prisoner of Ice #BestOfSaturn

Based on the Cthulhu mythos created by HP Lovecraft, the 1995 PC and Mac point-and-click Prisoner of Ice got a Japan-only Saturn release at the very end of 1997.

Presented in a semi-visual novel style with FMVs interspersed, this is a fast-paced adventure where you, a 1937 Lt. Ryan, try to save your submarine from a creature released from a mysterious frozen crate left in your charge. That’s only the beginning… true to Lovecraft’s work, a fascinating story awaits.

This was recently translated, and even the English voices from the PC original were inserted, so whip out your Saturn mouse and give it a go!

About the author

Peter Malek

A Saturn fan since the beginning, Peter plays Saturn almost exclusively. For Peter, Saturn represents a moment in time where 2D games were at their best, 3D was just rising, and fascinating gaming 'firsts' were commonplace.  There are very few Saturn games that Peter cannot find some enjoyment in!
