Minor New Cheat Code Discovered for Dragon Force

Exciting news today as a new cheat code is discovered in the North American version of Dragon Force! Unfortunately, the newly discovered code doesn’t appear to work on the Japanese or PAL versions of the game, although perhaps this is because the correct button combination hasn’t been discovered yet… if any of you crack the code, drop us a message on our Discord!

Still, the cheat code discovered is truly very minor and appears to have been placed in the game as perhaps an inside joke by the game’s localizers. The game is know for featuring hundreds of generals, most of which can be made to join your force. Quite a number of them have some role to play on the game’s overall story, but many more are simply plain, run-of-the-mill generals. One such general is the priestess Enya. Not particularly strong, she commands mages and wields relatively tame magic.

The cheat code changes Enya’s in-game avatar image to that of real-world Irish New Age singer Enya… or at least, that’s what it looks like. The characters’ avatars are admittedly relatively small. Still, we are fairly certain that this is the Enya.

The cheat code doesn’t appear to do anything else — no increase in stats, power, soldier allotment, or anything else. There does not appear to be any storyline effects with the change. As far as we can discern, the code is only an avatar change, which is why we are confident it was programmed in as perhaps a programmer’s inside joke. Maybe it was intended to be removed, but never was.

To enter the code: at the title screen, hold up on the directional pad and press B, B, up, and L (left shift key). A jingle plays – the same as when a captive general agrees to join your forces – indicating success. For the code to work, the general Enya must be part of your force.

We hope this very minor, curious cheat code (if it can even be called that) reignites and rejuvenates your interest in this magnificent game!

Just gave this a whirl. Looks like it really is just an avatar, even the in game sprite does not change.

  2. Incredible cheat code!

  3. How do you press UP after pressing B twice when you are already holding the UP button? This isn’t described clearly.
