Virtua Cop #BestOfSaturn

A hugely important game in Saturn history, 1995’s Virtua Cop was the first of Christmas 1995’s “Big Three” arcade conversions meant to showcase that the Saturn had what it took to compete with the upstart PlayStation.

Coming across very faithfully from the arcades courtesy of a surprisingly inexperienced internal team at SEGA, the game was sold standalone as well as with the Stunner light gun.

Fully polygonal and with ever-changing zooms and perspectives, the player can shoot various parts of the bad guys for different point values, building the satisfying point multiplier. Just don’t shoot the brainless innocents that often pop up in the heat of a firefight.
