Saturn fans will have to fit some time for another game between playthroughs of Christmas NiGHTS after an English fan translation patch for Delisoba Deluxe released today.

Exxistance uploaded the patch to his GitHub on Christmas morning, proclaiming on Discord, “I hope everyone is having a good holiday season! Hopefully, this will bring even more joy to it.”
The download includes two versions of the patch depending on which program you’d like to use: the Sega Saturn Patcher and the XDelta patcher.
Exxistance calls it a small translation, but it’s nonetheless helpful. It makes the following changes:
- Title screen redrawn
- New English font tiles
- Options menu translated & background redrawn
- Pause menu translated
- All map editor menus & elements translated
In Delisoba Deluxe, you race through the streets of Japan on a motorcycle to deliver soba noodles to Tokyo Broadcasting Station’s headquarters as fast as possible while dodging traffic, construction and even a gorilla throwing bananas. The game is very rare, having only been given away to people who attended tapings of a game show called “Tokyo Friend Park 2” where Delisoba Delivery was played by contestants. It was developed by Cave.

In the show’s version, one contestant drives a motion-capable arcade cabinet-like motorcycle to control the on-screen action while the other sits on the back and holds a bowl of soba noodles. If the driver crashes into an obstacle in the game, the soba-holder will be jostled, possibly dropping the noodles they’re holding, at which point both contestants have to get off and collect the noodle boxes before continuing to drive.
Exxistance has been on an absolute tear this year with translation patches, having already finished ones for Willy Wombat and Shinrei Jusatsushi Taromaru.

The commitment of this guy is something to behold. He’s a national treasure. I’m still battling my way (unsuccessfully) through Taromaru and now this comes. Legend.
