What’s in a name, anyways?? With an odd title, Linkle Liver Story is a cute 1996 Japanese action RPG released by NexTech. The game revolves around fox-girl Kitsch and the beastfolk trying to fight back against the evil Muma, whose forces have conquered the Land of the Four Seasons.

Kitsch must befriend allies, solve puzzles, and engage in real-time combat in this 2D overhead adventure. The visuals are very colorful and welcoming, the story is relatively lighthearted, and the game is more relaxing to play than a serious, hardcore RPG — but don’t let that put you off, as Linkle Liver is undeniably fun if you give it the time of day.

As an action RPG, Kitsch can dash, tumble, and jump, and can employ both magic and weapons in combat. Weapons can be grown from seeds and can level up to become more useful and powerful.

It is rumored that back in the day, Working Designs took serious interest in localizing this game, but ultimately passed on it, unfortunately … but fear not! In January 2019, seeds planted by Paul Met, Aishsha and Pennywise bore fruit as they released an English patch of the game for all of us beastfolk to enjoy.
