Lunar 2: Eternal Blue #BestOfSaturn

Hot on the heels of 1997’s Grandia, the remake of the 1994 SEGA CD / Mega CD hit Lunar 2: Eternal Blue launched on the Saturn in 1998.

Set a thousand years after the events of Lunar 1, Eternal Blue sees young Hiro cross paths with White Knight Leo, commanding the Dragonship Destiny as he searches for the Destroyer, prophesized to return to the world of Lunar and plunge it into darkness. And yet, exploring the Blue Spire, Hiro finds no destroyer, but rather a mysterious young girl called Lucia.

As the story unfolds, it becomes clear that something isn’t right at the very center of power in the world of Lunar. Gorgeous pixel art, an enthralling story, characters whose arcs come full circle, and much more await players of Lunar 2. Featuring several gameplay improvements including the ability to dash and to enhance attributes using crests, the game sees both new and returning characters take up the struggle against evil.

Speaking of evil, the game initially only received an English translation on the PlayStation (a.k.a. the real Destroyer), but beginning in 2022, Mr. Conan released a work-in-progress English patch that injected the Working Designs translation into the Saturn game. Now, all of us can return to the world of Lunar and be the hero once more!
