Released this morning by KoolFiller over on Segaxtreme, a full English translation is now available for the straight home consoles exclusive hot-blooded family beat ’em up Nekketsu Oyako. Released December 1994 as a launch title on the original Playstation, Nekketsu Oyako was ported to the Saturn a few months later with some gameplay and graphical differences. Neither version left Japan, but the Playstation version was translated into English by PentarouZero and Al LaPrade way back in 2004.

KoolFiller says, “Surprisingly, pretty much every edit made to the Playstation fan-translated version was fairly easily transferrable, with a little techno voodoo. I haven’t made any revisions to their script, and the graphics were pretty much all done already by them.”

KoolFiller has not only brought the Saturn version into the world of English, but has also implemented some improvements to the option menu. Now you can add more lives and continues, up to unlimited if you want. You can also pick “next page” to listen to the game’s music, and toggle a brand new save feature.

He says, “Never before available in the game, now you can save all your preferred settings and button assignments to internal memory. Warning: If internal memory is full, “Save Settings” should switch back to “No” upon exiting the config menus and no settings will be saved.”
