Updates for PlanetWeb, Sega Touring Car Championship Leaderboard

Last week, Xiden released updates for both PlanetWeb and the Sega Touring Car Championship leaderboard, which makes using the NetLink or Xband modem cartridges for browsing and submitting STCC times easier than ever!

For PlanetWeb, Xiden said, “I’ve updated the old PlanetWeb 4 with a new homepage. When you hit connect it now goes directly to Saturn Dreampipe (Soon to be updated with a new more Saturn friendly page). I’ve also added direct link “Sega SHIRO!” which goes to https://shiro.reye.me/. This has all the latest and greatest PlanetWeb 4 features with links that actually function!”

For the STCC Leaderboard update, Xiden said, “I’m also happy to announce a quick update to the Sega Touring Car upload. The password section has mostly been cracked (Thanks to SEGARPGFAN for getting a lot of this figured out!). You can now simply use the game’s submit score feature to submit a high score, you no longer have to submit the save file through planetweb anymore. This restores the game to function exactly as it did back in the day!”

Xiden converted the password feature to a simple reader that can run passwords quickly, and he’ll eventually add automation so the passwords will update on the leaderboard without him needing to do it manually.

“The decoder is about 95% accurate at the moment, there could be an anomaly or two,” he said. “If you see an issue with the score that’s uploaded please let me know and I can make a correction both to the code and the high score. It’s been tested with about 70+ passwords thus far.”

Since this isn’t a peer-to-peer direct-dial, a DreamPi is required for both browsing PlanetWeb and submitting STCC scores. “You have to have your email setup,” Xiden said. “It works out of the box with all DreamPi versions. You no longer need a to use PlanetWeb to email your STCC save file though. I might make it also where you can use the in-game browser to type in your code directly to submit your data if you don’t have an email.”

To view all the submitted times, check out Xiden’s STCC Leaderboards site here. This is not to be confused with SEGARPGFAN’s STCC Ghost Car Portal that was reported on earlier this year.
