With a stake to the heart, the SHIRO! community has laid the Monster Slider challenge to rest.

Seven brave SHIRO!s spent the month of October puzzle-battling the forces of Dracula across six challenge categories — check out the announcement article here. In a Community Challenge first, not one, but two events were left unclaimed. Both these unconquered challenges were in the Story-Mode category of events. The “Evil Bat” prize was to be award to the first participant to 1 CC Story Mode. The closest anyone got to achieving this feat was Rasputin3000 with a game over against the Mummy (round 10/12), speaking to the difficulty of Monster Slider’s Story Mode. While attempts at conquering the “Evil Bat” category were made, it does not appear that anyone tackled the “Nightmare” challenge. “Nightmare” — which did not start until mid-month — would have rewarded anyone who could roll credits in Story Mode Master Difficulty. This proved to be beyond the capabilities of this humble group of block sliders.

That is not to say that every event was left on the table. Rasputin3000 took top place in the “Marionette” event — highest score in Story Mode on Normal Difficulty — beating Double Dime for that honor by a mere 170 points (52,520 versus 52,350 respectively).

All of the Single-Minded Mode Events saw a winner. The “Stone Curse” category (highest score in Single-Minded Mode) was won by G.G. with an insane score of 470,690, beating out Double Dime’s second place score of 372,050 by nearly 100,000 points. This achievement was not a minor effort, and took G.G. sliding block after block for 75 uninterrupted minutes.

The “Skeleton Dance” — highest max chain in Single-Minded Mode — event saw a tie, with both G.G. and Howyouben posting truly impressive 15 chain combos (shown below). It is no wonder then that these two puzzle sliding masters feature in the top three scorers for the month.

The “Holy Prayer” grand prize — overall combined scores from Single and Single-Minded Modes — was won by G.G. with an eye-watering total score of 480,210. G.G.’s sudden lurch into first place came in the twilight hours of Halloween day, ending Double Dime’s two-week reign on top. Ultimately, Double Dime had to settle for second place with an admirable 424,400 points. Howyouben rounded out the top three with a score of 396,470, with a comfortable lead of over 110,000 points ahead of fourth place.
