SEGA Saturn… Switch? A Portable Saturn Project In The Works!

Since early 2019, a YouTube Channel going by the name China TZMWX has been slowing working on, and build his project Sega Saturn Portable!

The early prototypes are pretty interesting, using hacked up Saturn controllers for the sides, and a small LCD screen in the middle for testing purposes. From what is shown, it seems the creator is using the RHEA / Phoebe ODEs (Optical Drive Emulators) in place of an actual disc drive, which overall seems like a better idea than adding a disc drive and making the console way bigger!

They even fit a 4 MB cartridge inside for the games that support it! Talk about downsizing!

On top of that, they put together their own Taisen Cable for the system as well! Now you can finally link battle your friends in Gungriffon 2 on the go!

Slowly over the course of two years, they have been building the project up, from what seemed to be a portable Saturn, to a Saturn Switch with an OSSC dock!

As of now, there are no plans of mass production, let alone even selling this thing. It seems like they are just trying to work on a, “What if” product, and go from there. Overall, we welcome the design, as it would be a neat little product for conventions, and getting your Saturn fix on the go.
