Bandai’s 1995 Saturn effort based on the wildly popular manga SLAM DUNK, “From TV Animation Slam Dunk: I Love Basketball” is a 1 or 2 player sports sim with a strong story mode. The high school players are all sprites and the camera angle is fixed, changing only with ball possession, but the game plays fast and the courts look relatively impressive. Just about the polar opposite of, say, NBA Jam, but charming it its own right.
A Saturn fan since the beginning, Peter plays Saturn almost exclusively. For Peter, Saturn represents a moment in time where 2D games were at their best, 3D was just rising, and fascinating gaming ‘firsts’ were commonplace. There are very few Saturn games that Peter cannot find some enjoyment in!
