Layer Section (aka Galactic Attack) Coming to Switch, PS4 & XBone

Looks like City Connection, the same company who recently brought the Cotton/Guardian Force Saturn Tribute to the Switch, will be giving us another classic Saturn shooter tribute on Switch, PS4 & XboxOne… *(thanks to Gematsu for the tip)

According to the Taiwan Digital Game Rating Committee, Layer Section (aka Galactic Attack / Rayforce) has been registered for released by publisher City Connection in what is currently titled “Layer Section & Galactic Attack S-Tribute” (aka Saturn Tribute).

Our first speculation is in regard to what games will actually be included in this tribute package, seeing as “Galactic Attack” was merely the US release of “Layer Section”, so they are essentially the same game, however, the registered title does say “Layer Section & Galactic Attack”, and considering City Connection’s previous “Saturn Tribute” consisted of multiple games (specifically Cotton 2, Cotton Boomerang & Guardian Force), we’re left to wonder if this might be a web typo, and perhaps they may be giving us both Layer Section I & II (which both have Saturn releases). We’ll let you know when we know…

On the other hand, this tribute could consist of just the single game, and it may simply be titled one way or the other based on the region of release… (we’re sincerely hoping for the former, but this latter possibility is probably -and sadly- more likely…)

Our second speculation (or apprehension, in this case) is in regard to input lag… Assuming this tribute package runs on the same emulator as the previous tribute package (we suspect SSF), it may suffer the same fate in terms of real and noticeable input lag that could be a deal breaker for some folks. However, it does seem that City Connection was able to mitigate this issue at least to some extent, so we will remain positively optimistic until we have the game in our hands and can tell you first hand how it performs…

Stay tuned for more information as it comes down the pipe.
