Earlier this week, Exxistance dropped a surprise English translation patch for the SEGA AGES port of the sprite scaling arcade racer Power Drift over on his GitHub. Released in 1998 only in Japan on SEGA Saturn 10 years after the AM2 arcade original, Power Drift uses Sega’s Super Scaler tech just like Space Harrier and Afterburner.
Exxistance said, “I decided to investigate if I could bring the arcade’s English sprites over to the Japanese Saturn release. In total, seven sprites.”


These seven sprites allowed him to translate the “BE 3RD OR BETTER TO CONTINUE!” text at the start of the race, as well as the stage you are on.


As far as game tips go, Exxistance said, “I got nothin’. I kinda suck at this game, but I just love that beautiful Super Scaler look.”
