The summer of Saturn blazes on even into fall with yet another English fan translation on the Saturn thanks to KoolFiller! The first release of the Arcade Gears series of budget-friendly arcade ports in Japan, Pu·Li·Ru·La (apparently a Japanese onomatopoeia that sounds whimsical and surreal) is a bizarre beat ’em up that was ported to both Saturn and PlayStation at the end of 1997, about six years after the worldwide arcade original by Taito. The port was developed by Goo! and published by Xing Entertainment.
Fast forward to 2026 and now we can play the uncensored Japanese version in English on our Saturns! Released this week on SEGAXTREME, KoolFiller‘s XDelta patch comes with both the original arcade English script as well as DaVince21‘s “Proper” English Translation from 2015 that fixes errors and awkward lines.
“The only thing the Arcade and ‘Proper’ Translations didn’t cover was the ‘Options’ menu and the ‘Backup’ selection screen, so I used multiple references including guides/walkthroughs, and frontier intelligence for those,” KoolFiller said. “I’m pretty sure it’s fine, but I’ll be happy to update it if I can ever get a legit translator to work with me.”
KoolFiller unlocked the hidden options screen in this hack as well, which lets you toggle different cheats like infinite lives, stage select and even five different sizes for your character!
The “Select” option, which allows both players to be the same character, has been hacked to save to Saturn backup like the normal mode does. He’s also fixed the vibrating shadows and reflections, and he removed the black strips in the backup selection screen’s blue background for a cleaner look.

On a final note, KoolFiller said, “Could be wrong but I think this is now the only English version of the game that doesn’t censor out the ‘vagina door.'”
