Waku Waku Puyo Puyo Dungeon #BestOfSaturn

Based on the Madou Monogatari universe, Waku Waku Puyo Puyo Dungeon is a top-down rougelike action RPG produced and released by Compile in April 1998.

The story sees the player take interchangeable control of either Arle Nadja (with Carbuncle!), Rulue (with Minotaur), or Schezo Wegey as they come upon an “exhilarating” amusement park. Attractions in the park are in fact randomly generated dungeons, and each character attempts to be the first to complete them all, as a magical artifact awaits the victor.

Use physical and magical attacks in exploring the dungeons where everything from movement to combat is turn-based. Manage your hunger or else you will grow feeble, and engage both sub-bosses and dungeon bosses straight out of Madou Monogatari. Forge stronger equipment to aid you in your quest while enjoying the very nice 2D graphics and polished interface. You can even find items that are only useable by the other characters and sell them to the store — then buy them when playing as the other character.

The dungeons get larger as the game progresses and require careful planning to conquer. In 2025, Maud released an English patch when they themselves emerged from the final dungeon, to the delight of Saturn fans worldwide!
