Catching Up On New October Saturn English Patches

It’s been hard keeping up with all the new things to play on Saturn, with a couple of “finished” English patch projects and several new public beta patches all being released around the same time. Here’s a quick look at all of them, including who’s working on them, which version they are on, and if AI tools were used.

Tengai Makyō (Far East of Eden): The Apocalypse IV
v1.05-beta by Pzapzap (10-22-26)

First up is Hudson‘s 1997 RPG Tengai Makyō (Far East of Eden): The Apocalypse IV. The series moved from the PC Engine CD over to the Saturn for its fourth RPG, taking place in a fictional version of America this time instead of Japan. One of many public beta builds Pzapzap released this month, the site says, “Translated by CODEC BABEL’s AI agents under the direction of the project’s human lead; no other team’s patches, scripts or tools were used.” Although it’s listed as v1.04, it is still in beta, with about 80 other voiced lines and eight voiced movies still needing subtitles. You can report any bugs by emailing phil@tttships.co.

Terra Phantastica
v1.1.2-beta by Pzapzap
(10-21-26)

Currently being worked on by Malenko, Mr. Conan and others over at SegaXtreme (first reported by SHIRO! back in 2022), a different Terra Phantastica English patch project is now in public beta from Pzapzap and the “CODEC BABEL AI agents.” Developed by Chime and published by SEGA in 1996, this tactical RPG has everything translated except “battle cries and spell shouts” as well voice clips heard only from the Options sound test. Bugs from this build can be reported to the same previous email.

Teitoku no Ketsudan (Pacific Theater of Operations) III with Power-Up Kit
v1.0 by Kriszhao (10-16-26)

Screenshots not exact.

Kriszhao has released a translation for Koei‘s 1996 WW2 naval war simulation game, which would’ve been named P.T.O. III had it been released outside of Japan. Everything is translated into English besides the videos, including the PUK (Power-Up Kit) expansion content. Kriszhao says, “This is the final v1.0 of the tested text translation, not a guarantee that every possible screen is English. If you encounter more visible Japanese, note the menu path or scenario and leave the screen available for a later review.” Based on the README included with the download, AI appears to have been used in some way.

Street Fighter Alpha 3
v2.0 by Lemongrwab (10-15-26)

Lemongrwab said this is a complete English translation of Capcom‘s Street Fighter Zero (now Alpha) 3, using “official text and graphics from the PSP version (Alpha 3 MAX), PS1 version, and NAOMI arcade release.” Lemongrwab also included an “unlock all fighters” patch. The 4MB RAM Cartridge is still required to run the game. Claude Opus 5.5 was used.

Pocket Fighter – Mini Mix
v1.0-beta by Lemongrwab (10-21-26)

Pocket Fighter is another classic Capcom fighter English translation from Lemongrwab, also using Claude Opus 5.5 to help implement all the in-game text from the English versions (arcade and Playstation). He also implemented unused English assets already on the disc, such as the “Mini Mix” banner. The status of this project is still “in progress,” but it’s unclear what still needs translated or worked on.

Digital Monster Ver. S: Digimon Tamers
v0.92-beta by Gio-74 (10-14-26)

Get out your Saturn Shuttle mouse, because Gio-74 has released a nearly complete patch for Bandai‘s battle pet simulator Digital Monster Ver. S: Digimon Tamers. Gio-74 said, “This translation was made with AI [ChatGPT and Claude], only for personal use, and I’m sharing it for free in case other fans enjoy it. No translation is perfect, and a human touch can only make this one better. Concrete reports are welcome and will go into the next version.” It’s also noted that this translation has been cross-checked with Arvenyte’s English guide.

Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner
v0.10.1-beta by Janos42us (10-16-26)

The first game in Shin Megami Tensei spinoff Devil Summoner series — not to be confused with TrekkiesUnite118‘s ongoing Soul Hackers project — released only in Japan by Atlus in 1995. Janos42us said, “I used AI to help translate the Japanese script into English and clean up the wording. I review the script, make the final calls on names and terms, and test builds on emulators and a real Saturn. The translation comes directly from the Japanese text on the Saturn disc. Earlier fan translations were used for comparison, with differences checked against the Japanese. Nothing was copied.”

Ronde
v0.1.0-beta by RondeFan67 (10-8-26)

Need another Shin Megami Tensei spinoff English beta patch? RondeFan67 has got you covered with their translation of the strategy RPG Ronde. All that’s left to translate are the Japanese captions, which are burned into a few of the FMVs. RondeFan67 said, “The script was translated with AI (Claude), from the original Japanese, following a style guide that keeps names and terms consistent with the rest of the Megami Tensei series. It has not yet been proofread by a fluent Japanese speaker; if you spot a mistranslation, feel free to open an issue.”

Blue Seed
v0.1.10-beta by Lafdesjeux (10-21-26)

Released by SEGA in 1995, Blue Seed is a hybrid RPG/Card Battler based on the ’90s manga/anime. Lafdesjeux used AI to bring the game into English but said, “This remains a pre-release build while full-game proofreading and visual QA continue. A huge thank you to the Saturn modding community for the documentation and tools that made this possible. Please check it out, report any bugs you find on GitHub, and enjoy this forgotten Saturn gem!”
