The 10th SEGA Saturn SHIRO! Online NetLink/Xband Tournament, Daytona USA: Circuit Edition For Sega Networks, crossed the finish line earlier this week, ending just under three months after the initial sign-up announcement. Topaz95, a first-time tournament participant, was not only able to beat Kyle Rovagug to claim the top spot in the West Coast bracket but also outpaced Rink Rat for the big West vs. East Coast showdown.
For winning their own respective brackets, both Topaz95 and Rink Rat will receive a special TeePublic hat with a Daytona tournament-themed logo designed by our very own SaturnDave:
Shoutouts to all participating racers who flew Sky High these past few months, and Welcome To Victory Lane Topaz95, You Made It!
You can check out this playlist of all the races that were recorded, including the final match.
The 11th SHIRO! Online Tournament will be one of SEGARPGFAN‘s new online-hacked Saturn games, which feature a modified interface that reduces latency. We still need to stress-test the new builds with long distances to determine if separate regional brackets are still necessary.
If you are interested in joining the next tournament and can help with the testing, please head over to the saturn_online chat on the SHIRO! Discord for more information. When you are ready, you can reach out in the matchmaking chat to find someone to test the new games with. If things go well, we can hopefully announce the next worldwide tournament in a few weeks.
I’m not gonna fall for that banana in the tailpipe again.
