This July we’re bringing the arcade home with the seventh volume of the Saturn’s SEGA AGES games, Memorial Selection Vol. 1! That’s right, it’s a volume within a volume! This is a Sega CS1 internally developed compilation, released on Saturn only in Japan, containing four top-notch SEGA arcade classics: Head-On, Pengo, Up’n Down and Flicky.

Each week this month we’ll be focusing on one of the four games, starting with arguably the best game in the series, Up’n Down, which gets a bonus three days, ending on Friday July 10th. After that it will be normal seven-day weeks going forward, with Pengo going from the 11th to the 17th, Head-On from the 18th to 24th and Flicky ending things on the final week, the 25th to the 31st.
Disc art suggests 2:52 is game time, but we’re not sure if that’s day or night.
That’s four weekly high score challenges. There also will be prizes for the top three participants for overall highest scores in all four games. That means we’ll award seven custom magnet prizes total, plus a special hat prize going to first place! Prizes are designed by SaturnDave, magnets provided by Xiden and one-off hat from SHIRO!’s TeePublic shop. Participants are allowed to submit scores for previous weekly challenges, but whoever won a weekly challenge by its deadline wins its prize.
Pengo, Up’n Down and Head-On also feature vertical TATE mode if you pick the type B in the options, so make sure to flip those TVs to the left-hand side!
