This is going to shock a lot of people but bear in mind it’s not just a hype thing. Dungeon master Nexus. wait what? I thought you loved this game and the biggest fan about the video game series… well sorta. So while i was hyped to own and play the game, and i was already an adult looking at the pictures it felt different then what i expected. my search for the game and initial playing it was more of “hey i have the console i should collect this even if i don’t like or could ever beat this. The era of gaming where one kidna follows more blindly, i need the game series\console maker\author etc even if i don’t play it. the mummy and screamer looked so different i thought will i even like this? the slow moving of the console(not knowing about fast movement) was also a let down. learning to play with a controller was harder, not knowing some of the shortcuts didn’t help either. its the framing of the mind, Wanting it for collecting the series, knowing full well I Would have a hard time playing it. The Hype was for getting it, not beating it. So what happened why the change? while the maps, spells items etc were online long before i ever got the game, my ability to play games with console was still somewhat poor, it was learning how to play the game that grew to love this more, I was a PC gamer, long before i had dungeon crawler\explorer games for console. by getting better at both it became clearer that while different it was a really tight and amazing game. thats also why i recorded a a video to explain how to paly this. it certainly helped remembering the classic DM spells to try those out. I suspect if anyone never played any dungeon master game before this they would just turn away and never look back. using a button to recall the last spell you cast is one of the most amazing things you can do in a dungeon crawler\explorer game. seeing the different monsters never seen in any other game or port was amazing. The english patch was what completely sealed it for me. the maps and guides for all those puzzles already existed so you could beat it with the guides but to read the text in english, all the muns etc fully translated etc was the icing on the cake. Again expecting a game i would try play a little and quit is what i first expected and after getting better at both pc and console playing playing helped me enjoy the game more. This is also the very first dungeon master i’ve ever beaten, despite being a fan since like 89 or something..
can’t recall all the details, so this will largely be different each time i tell this, but a few details still mostly true. i’ve had atleast 2 saturns in my lifetime, the timing of either will be very wrong and changing each time i say it.
preface: I use to own a sega genesis and a few games probably played phantasy star 2 alot, nothing was ever new though i probably had a genesis while it was still around.
in my city there was a real printed paper with classified ads this was long before anything online existed. inside the classified section is this “Nickel ads” which is extra cheap ads, including free stuff sometimes. I’m almost certain this is how i found my first saturn, i asked my mom for a ride lates 90s, probably 97 to 99 sometime. it was some black saturn not sure the model etc, it had a bunch of games largely sports from a mother. my current saturn(white Japanese) i got from http://www.consolegoods.co.uk i can’t track when i got my saturn but i did place 2 orders one in 2016 and one in 2018. I suspect my white saturn, multitap and like 5 controllers i got in 2010s sometime. i was one of the early people who helped funded the satiator while not the first batch i think mine was in the 2nd batch of releases. between ebay(2000 on) and probably 2013 meeting Murderofcrows at PRGE. had games but not a console to play. 2013 to 2015 is most likely when i became mroe active and cared. loaning my saturn has msot likely been close to 10 years now. re: phantasy star cant find it in my ebay history but i for sure was search for like 3 years on ebay trying to find a copy for saturn that was cheap, date unknown but i wanted PSC for saturn badly, sometime between 2000 and 2008 got my copy off ebay.i got a japanese copy long ago played only a little, i do want to play it more i feel i got it at one of the PRGE swap meets(before it became sidequest…)

its a white japanese console. While i did have an action replay and later converted to Pseudo Kai I haven’t used PSK in a long time.
I have over 100 physical games but I tend to play using a sataitor and bin cue format. When i take my saturn to events I tend to do the same thing. while i do have mednafen installed on computer i haven’t used it in years.
I tend to use a retrotink 2x not 5 and hook up to monitor(obs). I use to use:
Polaroid FLM-1507 LCD TV(component(HD)\VGA\RCA\Svideo)
For events depends what they give me but tends to be CRT and i hook up with hdmi(sometimes events share my saturn with snes or other retro console giving priority to rca for snes).
